#CANNOT PRINT TO ONENOTE 2010 PRO#
If I were you, I'd load your desktop version onto the Pro to see how you like it. The Modern app has a better layout for an aesthetically pleasing tablet-style app and is a very good free app. Note taking is a lot better on the desktop version, and you have way more options with stuff in general. I literally only use it to study after I've taken notes. You could easily do without the Modern app if you wanted to.

You're stuck with whatever size the document is. However, you cannot pinch to zoom on the Modern OneNote app. The major annoyance I have with the desktop version is that scrolling isn't all that smooth. The only reason I have the Modern app is because I like to study better on it after I've already taken notes on my PDFs on the desktop version of OneNote. It is a fantastic app, but it just doesn't have as many features as the desktop version. The Metro/Modern app is in the Windows Store and it is free. Depending on the size of the document and upload/download speeds, this probably will take an extra 1-3 minutes to view the document in the Metro OneNote version. Note: It will take some time for the document you print to desktop OneNote to show up in Metro OneNote because the document will have to sync and upload to SkyDrive and then Metro OneNote will have to sync and download the document. So quick recap: print from adobe reader to OneNote 2010/2013, make sure notebook is synced to SkyDrive, open synced notebook in Metro OneNote. Then if you have the notebooks synced over SkyDrive (which I feel is easier to accomplish with 2013, but still totally doable in 2010), you can open Metro and the document will load there.

Then use Adobe Reader to print to OneNote 2010 (or 2013 if you upgrade to 365 university). If you REALLY want to use the Metro OneNote to take notes, I'd suggest using your 2010 license to get the desktop version. The printout then appears in OneNote as a picture. OneNote for Win10 will appear (start, if necessary) and you can choose which notebook will save the printout.

Select the Send to OneNote printer and then print. I use adobe reader to print to OneNote because it has more options, and I'm just plain more familiar with it. From any program or app with a print option choose Print as usual. I personally like Office 13 better, but my two friends have 2010 and it has overall the same functionality of printing to OneNote.
